A recent study made at the university of Florida, says that skinny women make more money then women that are overweight, and vice versa on the male side.
Could this really be true? Not only do people have to worry to look good when they are out on their spare time but now you also have to worry while applying for a job. We all know how long the discussions about the “ideal” women and men has been going on. And how media portraits the women in all magazines. Even little girls get affected from this. But some of us think we gonna grow out of this state of mind. But then you find out that even this ideal concerns your working place. Then you know that it has gone one step tooo far.
Obviously there could be some logical explanations for this. For example that the men who works more maybe dont have time to eat good and healty food so they just keep on gaining weight. But still this is huge problem in todays society. I still remember 5 years ago when i were at my friends house and her seven year-old sister came in to the room in a bikini, because she was heading to the beach, and i told her she looked cute. The response i got was; no im too fat, i need to loose some weight before i can go out like this. I was shocked that she said this, first of all she is very thin and second of all she was only seven. Can you imagine to be seven years old and to think like this. That really broke my heart.
Im not saying that im not affected by the media, because we all are in some way, whether we’d like to admit or not. But to take it that far. You always hear something in the media about teenage girls with eatingdisorders or such. But to hear it or see it yourself from a person that young, that is just awful.
No discrimination should be made when you apply for a job, whether you’re white, asian, black, female, male, fat skinny, gay straight etc. As long as you have the qualification for the job and you can handle it. Then there should be no questions about it.
